    Abruzzo is a mountainous region running down the east coast of central Italy neighboring Marche in the north and Lazio in the west. Montepulciano is king in Abruzzo. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is often confused with famous Tuscan wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano made from the Tuscan grape Sangiovese. Abruzzo produces two styles of Montepulciano, a full bodied and powerful fruit forward red wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and a high quality rose or lighter style chilled red Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo.
