2017 Roncus Malvasia Istriana
Malvasia Istriana originates from Istria, Croatia. Udine, Friuli is very close to Istria so is ideally suited for growing. Malvasia Istriana is known as a fairly easy to grow grape with high yields and late ripening. Characterised ultimately as unique, fresh and powerful. The Roncus Malvasia Istriana offers just that. Grown on hills rich in marlstone with shallow stony soils perfect for this varietal. The organic vines are manually harvested at the end of September then follow a four hour cryomaceration process, pressing and low temperature static decanting. Fermentation is spontaneous using indigenous yeasts and when malolactic fermentation is completed it is aged in stainless steel 'sur lees' for six months. The Malvasia is a beautifully fresh wine with aromatic citrus notes sure to match well with anything from the sea.
