2014 6MURA Giba Bianco, Vermentino $34
Vermentino is a variety grown in Sardinia. In Liguria it is grown under the name Pigato. Its French name is Rolle. The grape produces aromatic wines, medium to full bodied with ripe peach and honeyed notes.
2014 Cantina della Vernaccia Terresenis, Vernaccia $37
Vernaccia di Oristano is a white Italian grape variety exclusive to Oristano on the west coast of Sardinia. It makes a wide range of wine styles which includes both dry and sweet as well as fortified wines. The grape has a long history on the island of Sardinia with Sardinians claiming that consuming ample quantities of Vernaccia was responsible for low instances of malaria on the island.
2013 6MURA Giba Rosso, Carignano $36
Carignano is a grape of blue black colour with a fairly thick skin. It is a late ripening berry and requires a warm climate and long ripening season. Known in France as Carignan and Spain as Carinena, it is widely planted and used for adding intense colour, acidity, and fleshy tannins to blended wines. Carignano at its best produces wonderfully concentrated and characterful wines
2012 Cantina Della Vernaccia Don Effisio, Monica di Sardegna $28
Monica is a grape grown almost exclusively in Sardinia yet originated in Spain. Monica generally produces lighter style red best drunk young.
