2019 Cantina della Vernaccia 'Ugone' Vermentino di Gallura
Cantina della Vernaccia Ugone is made with 100% Vermentino grapes. Vermentino di Gallura is an Italian appellation located in the historical Sardinian region of Gallura. The official production area includes twenty-three municipalities that were mostly located in the former region Olbia-Tempio—which is now a part of the larger province of Sassari. These Vermentino-based wines may come as the classic Bianco, sparkling spumante, the intense and pleasant late harvested Vendemmia Tardiva and as sweet dessert wines. Still Vermentino di Gallura has a rich straw color, good minerality, and displays notes of grapes, citrus blossom, and summer fruit.
Fermentation is spontaneous with a short cold maceration on the skins. The clear must ferments at a controlled temperature around 15 ° C in stainless steel tanks for about 20 days. Weekly batônnages, for about one month, contribute to increasing its complexity, sapidity and aromatic intensity. Refining ends in stainless steel.
The Ugone Vermentino is bright straw yellow in colour with green hues, fruity and floral aromas on the nose. The wine is dry, fresh and sapid on the palate. A persistent and structured wine.
The Ugone is best paired with seafood dishes, particularly with shellfish.
