2016 Possente Zohra
The Zohra is made with Nero d’Avola 60%, Syrah 30%, Cabernet 10% grapes planted 400m a.s.l in clay loam soils rich in minerals. It has been macerated on the skins for 10 days then after malolactic fermentation has occurred it is aged in stainless steel for five months. Ruby red in colour the wine has an intense aroma of red fruits, cherry and strawberry with delicate flowery notes. The mouth is fresh and persistent with pleasantly soft tannins.Best paired with rich meats, game, mushrooms or try it with a beef burger.
NERO D'AVOLA Native to Sicily, Nero d’Avola, which translates to “Black of Avola,” produces wines with a dark, robust character. The mix of Sicily’s arid, Mediterranean heat and its large diurnal swings is conducive to creating ripe wines with retained acidity. Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s most planted red grape and plays a major role in the island’s only DOCG, Cerasuolo di Vittoria. Many of the higher end wines have the ability to gain complexity with proper ageing, especially those wines that have spent some time in oak. However, for the most part these wines are meant to be drunk young.
