Praesidium 'Lucì' (short for Lucia), is made with 100% Trebbiano Abruzzese, perhaps the highest-quality biotype of the many Trebbianos found throughout Italy. It comes from a 0.8ha parcel called Vigna La Monacesca, planted in 2013, with a northeast exposure. Harvest was on Sept 22, at yields of 6,200kg/ha (42hl/ha). The grapes were destemmed, crushed, and macerated for 20 hours before being pressed into stainless steel tanks, where spontaneous fermentation occurred without temperature control. Malolactic was completed. Aging was also in stainless steel, for 8 months. Unfined/unfiltered. This is a deep, textural wine that speaks of a long growing season and mountain sun.
Praesidium Lucì Bianco Terre Aquilane IGT has a straw yellow color with intense bright golden reflections. An elegant and persistent wine with hints of fresh flowers, almonds and wild apples. Long and persistent finish. Excellent paired with fresh cheeses or fish dishes.
