Refosco is an ancient family of dark skinned Italian grape varieties native to Northern Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. It is believed to have been enjoyed since Roman times. The most renowned sub variety is Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso from Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The La Tunella Refosco is broad, rich, and intense, anchored by fruit and spice notes, wild blackberry, raspberry, cocoa, and tobacco. A full, dry body with substantial structure and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Best paired with rich meats, poultry and stews, with the exception of game in spiced sauces.
