La Tunella Rjgialla is made from the indigenous grape variety Ribolla Gialla. Ribolla Gialla is an ancient northeastern Italian grape variety planted most widely in the province of Friuli Venezia Giulia. After phylloxera had decimated most of Europe's vines, international grape varieties were preferred but recently revived interest in native grape varieties have given in to new plantings. Ribolla Gialla produces medium-bodied wines with firm acidity, stone fruit and citrus palate.
The Rjgialla is fermented using indigenous yeasts slowly in stainless steel at 16 degrees Celsius for 30- 40 days. The Rjgialla is a well rounded, full-bodied and supple wine. Dry, salty and pleasantly fresh. The long finish develops pleasing notes of lemon that accompany an elegant and slightly aromatic aftertaste. Best paired with delicate fish dishes, sweet and sour sauces, fried fish and creamy soups.
