Cantina Giba's 6MURA Carignano del Sulcis is a red wine of great texture and concentration with beautiful ageing potential. 6MURA Carignano comes from centuries old vineyards and tells a story of the history of wine in Sardinia.

The 150 year old Carignano vines are located on sandy soil 50 meters above sea level, kissed by the sun and touched by the wind. Yields are extremely low and there is no use of chemical treatments. The 6MURA Carignano is produced with carefully selected grapes and harvested by hand between the end of August and the beginning of September. The bunches are de-stemmed and gently pressed to then carry out the alcoholic fermentation, spontaneously, in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in tonneaux and old barriques.

The unique terroir gives birth to a deep wine with an intense and aromatic bouquet where the notes of ripe red fruit are perfectly balanced with the spices. A Carignano del Sulcis that will surprise you with its personality and magnificence. The colour is intense ruby red. On the nose there are complex aromas of the Mediterranean and dark fruit notes. On the palate it is full bodied with notes of dark fruit and spice with well integrated silky tannins. It is tasty with a great personality and final extension. Best paired with grilled meat, lamb dishes and roasted pork

6Mura is one of very few European Vineyards using ungrafted vines. In the early 1900s phylloxera destroyed most of Europe’s vineyards. A tiny spider that eats the roots killing the vine was the culprit. 90% of vineyards were replanted with American vines.

was fortunate enough to be recommended this wine, and was not disappointed. Paired well with my selection of cured meats and pasta it was loved by all.
